Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Classic Games
Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is set to release close to the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
