The Two Sergeants Instants Prior to the Assailant Got Stunned

A senior officer who rushed to the assistance of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knife attacker has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a blade to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a road collision in that location in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.

Officer-mounted and dashcam video shared by the police department depicted Brown, wearing in black with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a weapon outstretched.

He struck the officer who tripped and dropped to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the floor although being continually attacked with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a safe opportunity, ending the fight to an conclusion.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "I need help on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the neck."

Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple lacerations to his throat and more wounds to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster received cut injuries.

Officials said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stem his colleague's bleeding prior to emergency responders came.

The latest award comes after the law enforcement team were granted internal Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the police federation award from the local Police Federation in April 2024.

They further earned a Regional Valor Recognition in summer 2024.

"The efforts of all three officers ultimately rescued one another and resulted in no bystanders experienced any injuries."

Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, per the department.
