British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community offered condolences for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
